tea as a commodity is classified into six categories: green tea,
black tea, oolong tea, scented tea, white tea and compressed tea.
Each category can further be classified
into many species and grades according to its producing places,
species of plant, technology in processing and resulting characteristics.
Each species is sorted into several grades.
(1)Green Tea
Green
tea is the most abundantly grown tea in China. Accounting for more
than fifty percent of the whole tea crop. It is non-fermented. Every
producing area. regardless of districts. Turns out green tea. It
can be classified as shown in the following table:

(2)Black tea
Black tea is a chief kind of tea produced in China and it is fermented
The main species are black tea as follows:

(3)Oolong Tea
Oolong tea is semi-fermented and is one of the special China tea
prepared in Fujian, Taiwan and Guandong Provinces. It can further
be classified ac-cording to genus of tea, processing methods and
quality of tea into the following kinds:

(4)Scented Tea
Scented tea is reprocessed tea produced only in China by scenting
crude tea (or prime tea)with fragrant flowers in a closed cabin.
It is classified according to the nature of crude tea and the flower
used in scenting.
