One may find in China every kind of tea; in the shape, there are bushes, arbor trees, and minor arbors; on the size of leaves, there are small, medium, large and big leaves; on the emergence of buds, there are very early, early, middle way and late comings; on the appearance, there are trees of many different lookings.

An “All-China Commission of Examination and Approval of Best Genus of Tea” was set up in Hangzhou in 1981 with the function of registration, examination, analysis, propagation and popularization of best genus tea. A session was held of this commission in November,1984in Xiamen when the Yunnan big leaf Mongku and other 29species were elected as the best geni in mainland China.

In the session in January,1987,Longjing # 43 and other 21 new species were elected as the newly cultivated best genuses in China:

Quality Control in the Processing Stage
An examination laboratory is set up in each tea factory to make quality control in due time. Qualification certificate is issued when tea is ready for delivery. This is the “ex-factory quality responsible system” which means the quality guarantee(under the limited scope)extends to the last minute.
No sub-standard tea is allowed to leave the factory.

Fix S.O.P(Standard Operating Procedure)
An S.O.P for each category of tea was established—for black tea, green tea,(Mee and gunpowder),scented tea, oolong tea and many kinds of compressed tea. The S.O.P. is implemented by each tea factory to regulate the processing methodology.

Set Up a Mechanical System(Selection, fixing, Invention, Renovation and Inspection of Tea Machinery)
The scientific research on machinery is to be taken up by a national institute to make systematized work to product a full set of machines.
Research is also taken up by each tea research institute to solve local problems.
